Threaded Fasteners, Nuts, Bolts and Screws played a most important role in the industrial revolution. As our light and heavy machinery was designed, Nuts and Bolt were there to build and hold the equipment together. It soon became apparent however, that vibration and shock were the cause of excess failure to the equipment resulting in costly down time.
Thread lockers are also called Threadlocks, Thread Locks and Fasteners, which really describe their function. When placing a metal nut onto a bolt, Threadlockers are used to prevent the nut from backing off the bolt, which comes with vibration and shock. The Threadlocker adhesive flows easily onto the bolt thread, then when placing the nut onto the bolt, the air is squeezed out producing the absence of air – hence the Anaerobic drying and locking. The term “anaerobic” means “absence of air”. As the manufacture of Turbo-Lock ThreadLockers, we provide containers large enough so that the half full container is carrying enough air to prevent the product from setting up. Thread Lockers perform more effectively then washers and other forms of mechanical devices.
There are a variety of Thread Locker formulas produced. Turbo-Lock Thread Lockers come in color coded formulas for easy identification to the application, with matching colored coded bottles for further quick identification of the product. The colors refer to the different strengths.
It starts with PURPLE, which is removable and used for a small screw up to ¼” (6mm).
BLUE REMOVEABLE is also removable but is designed to be used on screw sizes up to ¾” (20mm), or set screws. Both PURPLE and BLUE Removable can be unscrewed with little effort.
RED is thought of as High Strength and Permanent, and the most common strength is for bolts up to a ¾” (20mm). RED also comes in strengths for 1” Bolts (25mm), Large Bolts (36mm), and High Temperatures (36 mm). These formulas require a torch (260 F) and hand tools to unscrew the bolt.
GREEN Threadlockers are either a Wicking Grade and have the ability to wick through pre-assembled parts, or a High Strength Retaining Compound for non-threaded cylindrical applications.
BLUE PLASTIC SCREW PERMANENT is actually a cyanoacrylate and is designed to be used on plastic screws.
Threadlockers are not affected by solvents or water, and can withstand most chemicals including oils and gasoline. They will stay pliable and will not shrink.
Another advantage of our Threadlockers are their capability to act as a Sealant, preventing pipe leaks while they fight corrosion. For quality assurance, Palm Labs Adhesives is an ISO 9001:2000 Certified Company, and most of our products have met military specifications. Most have a fixture time of less than 10 minutes, and all fully cure in 24 hours. For immediate drying, use Palm Labs Adhesives Turbo-Lock Primer/Activator.
Turbo-Lock Thread Lockers are used in a wide variety of industries and have thousands of applications. In the auto industry, they are used throughout the vehicle during assembly, from fuel components to engines, headlamps and body works. The applications for our products are endless. Bolting or Screwing any two metal parts together – it’s secure with Palm Labs Adhesives Turbo-Lock Threadlockers!
